HitPoint Studios was approached by Real Games to pitch a modern version of the popular board game CLUE. To put a twist on this classic game and engage new and loyal players, traditional gameplay was to be mixed with a modern hidden object game.
Gameplan
To fully modernize Clue, it was decided that Accusations and Alibis would feature a modern mansion with detailed 3d rendered objects and lighting. Holding true to the Clue brand, Accusations and Alibis features all the classic Clue characters, with a mix of traditional and modern rooms and weapons. The game's concept:
"You've been invited to the dinner party of a lifetime, hosted by a millionaire mogul. The bad news is your host winds up dead before the main course even makes it to the table! Everyone's a suspect in this murder most foul, and it's your job to find out who did it. You'll have to investigate every room in the mansion, interrogate every suspect and examine every murder weapon."
Execution
Clue: Accusations and Alibis combines the logic elements of Clue, with a hidden picture game. To receive clues about the murder, players much search each room for evidence and interrogate the suspects. Lovers of the Clue brand will be thrilled to interact with the classic characters during questioning. With over 400 unique cases to solve and a wide variety of room searches, fans of the hidden picture genre will not be disappointed. Beyond that, CLUE: Accusations and Alibis also contains mini-games which unlock the trap doors from the Clue board game. To make this game available to as wide an audience as possible, both Mac and PC versions are available.
